Youth Pathways

Youth Pathways is a programme funded by the Department of Education Science and Training (DEST) and forms a part of the Career Advice Australia initiative of the Australian Government.

Youth Pathways aims to assist the most at-risk young people to make a successful transition through to completion of year 12 (or its equivalent) and ultimately, to further education, training or employment and active participation in the community. Nationally the programme will assist over 17,000 young people aged 13 to 19 years old each year by providing intensive individualised assistance and support to help young people to make a successful transition.




LINK has been contracted to provide this service to youth in the Dandenong and greater South East area. Eligible young people participating in Youth Pathways will receive services which include:
  • Personal one-on-one assistance to help identify strengths, goals and barriers;
  • Individual support to achieve their goals; and
  • Individual support and guidance to help overcome barriers;
  • Other services aimed at better equipping young people to successfully make the transition through school and from school to further education, training or employment.

Eligible participants include

  • Australian Citizens between 13-19 years, at risk of leaving school before completing year 12 and;
  • at risk of not making a successful transition through school & from school to further education, training or employment.
  • Youth who have left school in the last 12 months without completing year 12 and;
  • At risk of not making a successful transition to further education, training or employment

Participation in Youth Pathways is voluntary and you can gain entry to the programme by enrolling yourself or a via referral from your school, Centrelink or other agencies.
