Recognition of Prior Learning
LINK Employment and Training is committed to the provision of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for students who can demonstrate that their current level of competencies match those required by industry and outlines in National Training Packages. (RPL) is a formal assessment process that measures and equates previously acquired skills and knowledge against the learning outcomes or competencies that are required for the course you are undertaking.
It is recognised that people learn and acquire skills and knowledge in ways other than just formal study or current training. A person may acquire skills relevant to the work situation through formal training courses, workplace training, hobbies, interests and life experiences. Sometimes the skills and knowledge acquired in these ways can be applied to the current workplace tasks a person is performing.
Where it can be substantiated that the applicant has achieved competency, RPL can be granted for either an entire unit, or individual learning outcomes within a unit. Candidates wishing to apply for RPL will need to complete this application form and attach supporting evidence. LINK Employment & Training will provide a list of competencies for the course for which you are applying for RPL.
If you have a prior qualification that covers some of the course enrolled in, you may apply for Credit Transfer. In this instance you do not need to complete an RPL application. You just need to show the original statement of attainment, statement of results or certificate to your trainer who will need to take a photocopy.
