The Parents Returning to Earnings / Work Program is a Victorian State Government funded initiative which provides up to $1,000 towards training costs to parents who are eligible for the program. LINK has 60 places available.
Participants can undertake any course offered by LINK. Information on courses is available on this website. Additional short courses available through LINK under this funding include: Introduction to Aged Care $600 Introduction to Disability Work $600 Introduction to Hairdressing $600 Skills Sets in Administration $600 Skills Sets in Information Technology $600 Skills Sets in Retail Operations $600
Applicants must be parents wanting to enter or return to the workforce. The following eligibility criteria applies: • Parent must have been absent from education, accredited training &/or the workforce for 2 years or more whilst caring for children. • Have not worked for a total of more than 4 months full-time or equivalent part-time in the last 2 years (ie: up to 640 hours or less in the last 2 years) • Wish to return to the workforce in the next 12 months • Are Australian residents living in Victoria. • Are Indigenous, and / or • Are Sole Parents, and / or • Are young and have left school early to care for their children, and /or • Have a disability, and / or • Are returning to the workforce after extended absence such as mature aged women, and / or • Are homeless, and / or • Live in areas of high unemployment or are drought affected, and / or • Come from culturally & linguistically diverse backgrounds, particularly recently arrived migrants.
The $1,000 can be used towards payment of course fees for any course through LINK that will assist the participant to gain employment. It can also be used to pay for resources, and / or for childcare expenses directly related to attend training at LINK and transport expenses directly related to attend training at LINK.
Parents who wish to access this funding will need to complete the necessary forms and a Statutory Declaration. Participants will obtain a nationally recognised and accredited Statement or Certificate of Attainment.
