Many tradespeople work as sub-contractors

As a part of the Skills for the Future program, the Australian Government has initiated The Business Skills Vouchers Programme which provides financial assistance to newly qualified tradespeople and apprentices who want to improve their business skills. From the 1st January 2007, eligible tradespeople and apprentices can apply for a voucher of up to $500 towards the cost of accredited business skills training. Visit www.australia.gov.au/skillsforthefuture for more details about this initiative.

The training will be delivered in a flexible style, with a combination of on-the-job, on-line and in person. The modules offered will cover subjects such as Communication, Marketing, Financials, and OH&S.
